Resolution to Declare an Impending Vacancy in the District 5 Supervisor Seat

WHEREAS, on July 17, 2023, Anoka Conservation District (ACD) Board Supervisor Sharon LeMay for District 5 gave notice that she intends to resign from her position as soon as a replacement can be appointed; and

WHEREAS, the current term of the seat for the District 5 Supervisor on the ACD Board will expire on December 31, 2024 and the subsequent term of office will commence on January 1, 2025 with the District 5 seat being filled for that subsequent term by the general election held on November 5, 2024; and

WHEREAS, by application of Minnesota Statutes section 103C.305, Subd. 6, the ACD Board of Supervisors is required to fill the vacancy in the District 5 seat by appointment and the supervisor so appointed will hold office until January 1, 2025; and

WHEREAS, District 5 represents the following areas in Anoka County: all of Linwood Township and all of the Cities of East Bethel, Bethel, Ham Lake, Columbus, Lino Lakes, Centerville, and Circle Pines as well as Section 13 of the City of Blaine (that portion of Blaine South of 109th Ave and East of Lexington Ave).

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Anoka Conservation District Board of Supervisors declares there is an impending vacancy effective at such time as a replacement is selected and the current supervisor vacates her position in the District 5 seat on the Board.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Anoka Conservation District Board of Supervisors directs the District Manager to advertise the impending vacancy and to conduct an application process to allow for the Board to select and to appoint a person to the seat of District 5 Supervisor for the remainder of the term, which expires December 31, 2024.
