Annual Tree and Shrub Sale
The District holds an annual tree and shrub seedling program where 30,000-34,000 new seedlings of over twenty varieties are sold. Species sold include coniferous trees and deciduous trees and shrubs that are well adapted to our sandy soils. One of the main objectives of this program is to encourage landowners to plant windbreaks and shelterbelts to help reduce soil losses from erosion, to conserve energy, and enhance wildlife habitat. In recent years the District has added the focus of restoring native ecosystems by providing a greater variety of species native to Anoka County and eliminated any species thought to have invasive tendencies.
Tree Aides
As part of the tree sale, ACD offers time release fertilizer packets and a moisture retaining soil additive to aid in the establishment of the seedlings.
Native Seed Mixes
As part of the tree sale, various prairie seed mixes are offered. ACD currently offers a mix for wetland prairies and dry prairies.
Wildlife Books
ACD continues to offer wildlife books that provide information
on wildlife and woodworking though they are no longer part
of the tree order form.
